But, if you do want to see a seagull defecate - be my guest. Secondly, as I said, whilst the toilet humour is far and subtle, it does feel very awkward and out of the place. I'm surprised at how they got away with a U rating too. I definitely wouldn't recommend this one for anyone under 5. Then, in the vortex transitions, the music and imagery is even more disturbing. For example, in the scene where our character's first meet Sandy after the main incident, Sandy acts in a rather disturbing manner. I'm not kidding, I'm surprised my 9-year old brother wasn't freaked out by some of the scenes. But I do have a few problems with the film. Luckily, the CGI sections didn't drag on too long - and the 2D animated parts were very well executed. The characters are still as colourful as ever, and the jokes don't feel too forced (except for those goddamn seagulls) and there is little to no toilet humour, which can seem pretty refreshing for a mid 2010s kid's film. The plot doesn't speak otherwise, but this spin on the "Plankton steals the KP formula" formula is sure to keep you interested. This movie is more like an expanded rendition of the original Spongebob TV episodes, rather than a film format.
